I Heart Faces Week 3: Joy

The theme in this week's I Heart Faces is Joy and I think this picture best capture that theme. My kids Ishi and Danniel really had great fun with this swing. Its really very easy to make kids happy, don't you think? More fun entries here.

I want a nice blogger template

I am currently tweaking this site, so please forgive the ever-changing look. I have lost all the links at the left but will surely update once I am satisfied with this blog's new look. I am actually looking for a free 3-column blogger template, that is very easy to customize, what with my limited knowledge in design. So if you come across a template that you feel would suit this blog, please free to leave a comment. I am actually prowling at Blogger Buster where I got the design from my other blog, but I have yet to find the one I really like for this one. Your comments and suggestions are most welcome!

I Heart Faces

I love this picture so much I might as well share it again to the whole world! This was taken last year when I brought Drexelle for a check-up and the Pedia recommended he go on a diet as he was overweight then. In this picture, he was making "puppy eyes" asking to eat out at Jollibee before he "officially" go on a diet.

This is my entry to i heart faces. For more pictures and to join the contest, check it out.

Pacquiao vs Hatton: Not yet a done deal?

I am not a boxing fan but when your husband worship the ground Pacquiao (and Ginebra) walks on, you have no choice but to be updated on who his latest opponent would be. If you ask me, it would be better if Pacquiao quit boxing now, while he is on top. But if you ask my husband, he should have two more fights: against Hatton and Mayweather. Recent talks on the fight against Ricky Hatton is yet to be finalized because they said Pacquiao wants more share of the the purse, 60-40. Some say he is getting greedy or ill-advised. I say its his face and his life, so if he wants to demand more money for it, and he can probably get away with it now that he is at the top of his game, then why not?

Whoever he gets to fight next time, I will be sure to watch and cheer for Manny. But please, please, please, can we minimize Aling Dionisia's airtime?

Lets Go For A Drink. Men vs Women

What goes through your mind when someone says "Lets go for a drink."

From our forwarded emails department, another bloggable gem :-)
Thanks Boss Micks!

No LPG Shortage? What About Hoarding?

We buy our LPG tank once a month but due to more-than the usual cooking made during the Christmas and New Year holidays, we had to buy one a week shorter than our usual projected consumption. And while according to the news, there is NO LPG shortage, we cant buy from two of our usual LPG suppliers as they have run out of supply. My husband had to go the palengke and pick-up (they charge a P10 delivery fee!) the last tank from that big retailer as well. According to these suppliers, they are also baffled as to why their delivery has been delayed for more than two weeks now. But my husband did not linger to make small talk and find out the reason for the shortage in supply. If the LPG Marketer's Association is sure that there is no shortage, then what is this then? If the problem is the turnaround time, why wouldn't retailers queue if it would mean they would get their supply? We didn't have the same problem last Christmas so what is special about now? Hmm, I really wonder if there is hoarding going on.

Written Words Escape Me

Have you ever had the most brilliant idea for a post, then completely lose your train of thoughts while trying to get out the written words?

Yeah, welcome to my world!

On that note, let me leave you with a picture that is worth a thousand words!

Was it an Earthquake?

Barely 5 minutes ago, while talking to my boss, we both felt an earthquake. We are in the Pasig Central Business District in Ortigas, and our office is almost at the top of a 47-floor building so you can imagine my heartbeat rate at the moment. Or was it just us? Did you feel it too? I will check this again a little to see if I was not just imagining things.

Be still my beating heart!

Update:
It was a magnitude 5.1 earthquake.

But it didn't feel like a 5.1. Now, I can joke :-)

Cacao Fruit, What?

Early this morning, an office mate asked us to help ourselves to this fruit and I was like, what is this? My friend Vangie was very excited, she said this is a cacao fruit. They have cacao trees in their province in Aklan and the fruit reminds her of nice childhood memories. So in between coffee and a Country Style egg sandwich, I sampled the fruit. It tastes like a cross between a santol and an atis fruit. When we tell office mates that the seeds in this fruit are processed into cocoa and chocolate, they are amazed. I didn't know that either. Oh well, its a good day to learn something new.

Boy Guilty of Killing Mom Over Chores

I did a double take when I read this breaking news on the Inquirer "Boy Guilty of Killing Mom Over Chores". I'm sure there is a lot to this than the fight over doing household chores that lead the boy to pull a gun on his mother shooting her 8 times. There is history of abuse here. The mother, who was also abused continued the vicious cycle and gave hell to her son. Unfortunately for her, it leads to this tragedy.

As a parent, I am really at a loss here.

"Lanao Mayor beat a 56-year old man and 14-year old kid over golf"

"At around 1:30 PM today, at Valley Golf and Country Club, Antipolo City, Mayor Nasser Pangandaman, Jr., Mayor of Masiu City, Lanao del Sur, his father, Secretary Nasser Pangandaman of the Department of Agrarian Reform, and company, beat my defenseless 56-year-old dad and my 14-year-old brother to a pulp because of some stupid misunderstanding on the golf course."

The World is Fucked Up Indeed! Tsk, tsk, tsk. And if you are enraged and outraged over this incident, sign the online petition here.

Coffee and Love are best when they're hot. -A German Proverb.

This is how I want to start the year: To love a little more. To dream a little more. To laugh a little more. To be more happier, to have lighter steps, to have a peaceful sleep. To live a better life this year.

Welcome year 2009! Here is to a happier year!
