Mellow Yello Monday: Noynoy!

MellowYellowBadge

Meet my president, Noynoy Aquino. I will vote for him this coming elections and I have my own reasons. You have your choice too, and I respect that so please respect mine. If your choice wins, then he will be my president too. I will vote for my country, and it is my personal belief that he will try his best for this country.

Friday Quotes: The Letter F

I just find this too funny not to share! But please do excuse the language, kids.

F is for Fuck Moderation. Eat all the cookies you want-cookies are God's way of showing that He loves you. So basically, not eating cookies is like stabbing God in the heart with a million rusty pitchforks.

Will You Leave the Country?

With only 18 days to go before the national elections on May 10, some people are still seriously questioning the Comelec's ability to conduct an honest and peaceful automated election. The Comelec is not known for being efficient or impartial, and some people are thinking of a failure of elections scenario. Some people are already planning emigration thinking that there is really no future here should the elections fail. I am asking myself the same question: will I leave the country? If I have the means to emigrate, will I do it? I do not have an honest answer at this point. I don't know how bad it will be after the people once again realize they have been had and maybe take it to the streets again. If its peaceful, fine. But what if it turns violent this time? The current administration is not known for subtlety so that is a possibility. But what if it gets so bad? I am a parent with three kids and if I have the means to move to another country where I don't need to feel afraid for their future, then maybe I will. But if this how all parents would feel, what will happen to us now?

Election Fiesta!

Yes, election time in the Philippines feels like and looks like a fiesta celebration. Just take a look at the picture below. This was taken in our barangay where elections banners fill the streets.

I know that there is a resolution in Quezon City which prohibits candidates from posting their posters and campaign materials in major roads, but look at how bad it iswhere it allowed! Can you imagine what will happen if these things were clog our drainage? And who will clean after them when this is over? Somebody ought to create a law that they should clean after themselves once the election is over. But I guess that is asking too much already in my country where laws are not taken seriously. Hay!

Mellow Yellow Monday: Undecided

MellowYellowBadge

With only 22 days before the coming Presidential elections, I am still undecided. Should I vote for Noynoy Aquino or Gibo Teodoro? These are the only candidates I am considering for President.

Wednesday Happy Thoughts

There are lots of things to be thankful for this week and here are just ten of them:
1. Leaving Drexelle at home, in charge of his 2 younger siblings and teaching him responsibility.
2. Ending the frequent calls to Drexelle with I Love You.
3. Asking the kids how their day was and each of them would give an account of how he helped in the house.
4. A nuclear family, he he.
5. Fixing the kids afternoon meal before work.
6. Relatives who help look after the kids or cook lunch for them.
7. Sister-in-law who fixes Ishi's hair.
8. Husband who does house cleaning as part of his exercise, hehe.
9. Rushing home to cook meals and seeing the family eager to sit down for dinner.
10 The dream house project well under way.

Thank you for another week!

Blogging

I have so little to say and I said too much. Good thing only a few people read this blog! Ha ha, it made my day!

Moving House

April 9 is a national holiday in the Philippines because we celebrate Araw ng Kagitingan or Valor Day. It means no work for us, but it doesn't mean rest. Yes, my husband and I will be in Montalban to visit the construction in our house. While all I have to do is to supervise, he he, my husband would have to carry hollow blocks and sand and do all those manly stuff. Actually, I am already picturing how the house would look like once finished. I am thinking of decorating already. I am planning and canvassing house movers and auto transport. I am thinking about cabinet measurements, sofa placements and just where to put what and how! I know it is still too early, as my brother-in-law said that it will take maybe two more weeks but I can't help feeling excited. I know we are not yet moving to this house, given the Ondoy scare, but I can dream right? If it were up to me, we will move already. But as it is, there are still lots of consideration, like schools for the kids and travel time for us and my sister. So I guess I should stop dreaming about decorating and just take pictures and make myself useful tomorrow. You can expect more pictures of my house next time.

No Wonder Erap is No.3!

This is the view that I see everyday from our gate:

And this a tenant's motorcyle that was just bedecked with Erap regalia just yesterday!

And since I commute from the house and pass by some portions of San Juan everyday, I see banners and posters tied on trees. No wonder Erap is now number 3 on surveys. Common folks really love him!

Mellow Yellow Monday: Earth Hour

MellowYellowBadge

We did our share in celebrating Earth Hour last March 27, 2010. It was just sad that most people in our street were not aware of it. My mother who has a barbecue stall in front of our house also turned off her light to do her part. Her buyers were asking her why she didn't pay her Meralco bill but my mother took all of it in good humor just do her share of Earth Hour!

Personal Emails

I was filling up an application for a scholarship grant for my son and one of the information being asked is the email address. I was about to write down my office email address when I paused and thought whether it was proper. Would the school think that I am using my work email for a personal matter? Or would they see it as a sign that I take the application seriously and would give it the same importance that I give my work? I usually use my office emails for booking flight online because I want to make sure that I will get them and not to be treated as spam on my personal email. But I really am at a quandary. I guess if I have an email hosting then I wouldn't be thinking this hard about it. It is one of the things that I am really thinking of getting once I get more serious about blogging and doing online jobs. But as of the moment, I am still thinking. But since I want to be sure that I will get their reply, I think I will just write down both my office and personal email addresses. I pray that I will get a positive reply because we really need the help! As of personal emails on my office mail, I hope my boss understands.

No Place Like Your Own Home

There is really no place your own home so after being devastated by Ondoy, we are again throwing good money after bad. Yes, we are building the dream house gain. What you can see at the picture above is the house after the roofing has been installed. The hollow blocks inside are for the restroom, the kitchen and the rooms. We have finally taken the plunge and spent all the insurance proceeds to once again build the house. The price of materials are indeed very high! A sack of cement costs P225, would you believe! I wonder if I can afford to buy a diamond saw blade if I need one? Good thing my brother in law acts as our foreman and he was able to get two laborers at reasonable price! But they still have more than 2 weeks to work on the house so I am getting ready for more expenses. It is true that you should budget more than the amount you were quoted for the construction because there are other materials to buy and unexpected expenses that would come up. I just hope that they finish soon because we do not have that much budget and enrollment is just around corner! But since this is our dream house, we are willing to bear the sacrifices and hope that we can live at the house soon!
