Litratong Pinoy: Ingay

Wednesday Happy Thoughts

I can't believe that I have not made any Wednesday Happy Thoughts post for the whole month of October, when I have so much to be thankful for! And here are just some reasons why I am so happy and thankful!
1. The fun trip to Coron Palawan.
2. Making the trip with my husband and very good friends, whom I last traveled with to Boracay last 2007.
3. Finally seeing some more beautiful places in the country and getting nearer my goal of visiting Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
4. Planning a trip to Cagayan de Oro for March next year with the same set of friends.
5. A new camera and very nice pictures.
6. Kids who give you very tight hugs to show how much you have been missed.
7. A dual sim phone when your network provider does not have a signal!
8. The rain that knows when to stop so your small plane can take off, ha ha, no thanks to Air Phil!
9. Free round trip ticket to Beijing China!
10. A happy, memorable and safe trip!

Dauis Church Complex

This is another offshoot of the posts I am doing on the Churches of Bohol, particularly of Dauis Church, the Dauis Church Complex. Loboc Church is another one that has a museum to boast of. But I think I prefer the Dauis Church Complex because other than the museum, the complex has this giant acacia tree that is perfect for an evening party.

Below is the gian acacia tree. I first read about this in Market Manila's blog. It is really prefect as a party venue because the scenery is just divine!

This is the breath taking view. My husband and I took a rest under those trees and just marvel at the beauty of this place. Even if you are not inside the church, you feel closer to God because of the beauty of His creation!
Inside the museum are various murals on the history of Dauis and of the church. At the top floor of the museum, they also have the ceiling painted like that of the church. There are also handicrafts items for sale, like these jewelries and accessories.
We just love this home decor and my husband even posed one. Well, we were on a budget trip so we really couldnt buy this, he he.
And this is a view of the church from the museum. I really love this place!

I wish I could go back to Bohol and visit this church again. It is really peaceful inside the church and even within the complex. I love how the people are working to preserve and beautify this place so tourists like us can have a better appreciation of their church.

Mellow Yellow Monday: Rock Climbing

MellowYellowMondayBadge

This was the wall that we had to climb during my daughter's educational trip at Falcon Crest in Bulacan. I am not so sure if it was 20 ft or 30 ft, but it sure looks high. Yes, I made it to the top.

And my daughter tried it too although she was afraid at first! But thats the farthest that she would go. The boys on her class were all willing to try and one even made it to the top.

I love this sport and I want to try this again soon!

Litratong Pinoy: Publiko

The Churches of Bohol: Dauis Church

This is the Dauis Church in Bohol. This is a continuation of my blog posts on the Churches of Bohol. I have already posted about Maribojoc Church, Loay Church, Loboc Church and the Loboc Museum. These pictures were taken in December 2008 and June 2009. So anyway, I will not try to give you any history of the church because what I know, I just read also. I love going to these churches because I love old churches. Its very different from cold, new ones and you feel as if you are part of history and of a secret of how this wonderful old church is still standing! I will just try and share some pictures here. For a comprehensive narrative on the history of the church, please check out this site. According to the marker, the church is an example of neo-classic and neo-gothic architecture. It is also a Shrine of Our Lady of Assumption. This is the church's altar. And here is the entrance to the church. There was a wedding when we were there so we weren't able to get nearer pictures of the altar.
Look at the design of the high ceiling of the church and marvel at the details!
At the foot of the altar is the miraculous well, where the water is known for its healing powers. We brought home some water after buying bottles at the near church complex, one we placed at our altar, and the other we gave to my mother-in-law to drink. The water tastes very fresh!
There was a line of people asking for water. It is free, but you can of course give donation to the church and those maintaining the well.

Here is a view of the side and back of the church.
The view at the back of the church is very, very beautiful and peaceful and will be posted on my next post about the Dauis Church Complex.
