Family Time Need Not Be Expensive

Some of the happiest times we spent are those we have with our loved ones, and they need be expensive.  I am so blessed to have kids who takes very little to be happy.  Here are some of our photos  doing just about nothing, except being together.
Buying donuts from a convenience store while I learn to drive. And listening to their dad with his words of caution while he teaches me the fine art of lady-driving (while scoffing, if I may add).
Eating ice cream on a cold night, just because. Or even a hotdog sandwich, even immediately after dinner, because teenagers can burn it like that!
And salon-bonding time, just to look good.  These times are well-spent because they are spent with the ones we love.  I know that I have been given a gift-that of their time and love, and I turn try to give them the same.

Friday Quotes: Love

Desperate Times

Desperate times call for desperate measures. With my weight gain, and upcoming trips, I am desperate enough to lose weight that I made a drastic move to cut down on my food intake and to my exercise regimen.  I started running again yesterday, thanks to the free access to the office gym, and I do Zumba every Tuesday night.  As for my food intake, I dont eat rice anymore and no more snacking.  For lunch the other day, I had these crackers and 2 bananas for lunch.
And since I am a coffee drinker, I scoured for sugar free, 3-in-1 coffee mix at the supermarket and found that they do have it in my favorite Great Taste brand. Unfortunately, it doesn't taste as good as the regular White variant that I love. But, sacrifices have to be made to make the weight go away, ha ha ha.
According to my BMI calculation, I am currently overweight.  If I lose 3 more pounds, I will be in the higher percentile of normal weight.  My target is 132 lbs and I think that is reasonable, except that I have a trip best Wednesday and travels entail eating! Oh well, I will just eat sensibly and avoid unnecessary calories as much as I can.

My Blog Got Removed!

That nightmare that every blogger has just happened to me: my blog got removed/deleted/hacked! It disappeared! Its Blog Not Found! I am talking about my first blog: To Be, To Be, Tutubi. I have been blogging since 2007 and it was my first ever blogspot. It is still cached when I searched for it though and it seems it was active up until 19 hours ago.
I have already reported this to Blogger and I am just waiting for the resolution because I cant imagine what I would do otherwise! And to think that I HAVE NO RECENT  BACK UP is just breaking my heart! I hope it will be resolved soon. I will update you on what happens next.

Zumba and my Bubble Gum diet

My earlier post showed how I gained weight, and I did, lots of it! Since I have travels scheduled this month and the next, I am now (and again!) on a strict diet! I wanted to start running again, but this super cold weather makes it humanly impossible to get up and run in the morning! I tried and failed, for a week now.  Good thing our Zumba class at the office started again last night! Its only P600 and will cover 7 sessions, once a week.  Its not bad as our instructor is so good, we almost died last night! And to lose more weight, I also started my bubble gum diet yesterday.  Since I have no problem with eating small portions, and just have trouble with getting bored and looking for something to munch on, I bought a pack of gum and started chewing to ease the craving! Its working, and drinking lots of water helps.  For lunch, I will have bananas, crackers and warm water.  Hope I survive, and from an obese me, I will let you know by Tuesday how much weight I will manage to lose! Good luck to me!

Why I Gained Weight This Holiday Season!

These are just some of the reasons why I gained so much weight this holiday season! And I cant seem to stop myself from munching all these food!
Now, they are here on my hips, under my chin and by my cheeks!
Yeah I know, all I had to say was no, and I wouldn't have gained any pound! But where is the fun in that?  When you are surrounded by friends and you are having fun, and there happen to have food around, how can you resist?
I am just human after all!  Although my mind keeps telling me no, my mouth and my hands and my stomach keep asking for more!
But now, they wont wake up in the morning to run all those fat away! Wahhhhhh!

Bentot Tapsilog in Tutuban Mall

Last December, we went to Divisoria and it was C-R-A-Z-Y!!! It was as though everybody was in Divisoria!  Ha ha ha, I should have known better than to go there on the last weekend before Christmas but I was with my mom and my sister and we are brave! Well, not brave enough because we went to the less crowded Tutuban Mall and not even bothered to cross the street (what street, it was full of people!).  So after buying shoes and clothes and bags from the stores inside the Tutuban, we went in search of lunch.  We saw Bentot Tapsilog and we were instantly curious because there were lots of people inside. The signage on the side was very catchy too!
The food was cheap and filling, but not very memorable.  For the three of us, I didn't spend more than P200.  But what I like more about the place, than the food, is the collection of memorabilia on display.
There was a lot! From old movie personalities, to news paper clippings to signage!  All from the 1970's as far as I can see. They have lots of photos and stuff of Tito, Vic and Joey, of Marcos and Imelda and a lot of other stuff. Coolness!
And even the electric fan is retro! There was even a sewing machine being used as a display table.  I love it! I didn't mind that it took them a while to serve the food because I was busy checking out the place.
Oh, and here is the food that we ordered: Porksilog for me and my sister. Actually, it was Porksisi because they ran out of egg.  They gave an extra rice in place of the egg.  Their delivery van was stuck somewhere in traffic because the street outside was too full of people!
I ordered this extra talong with bagoong for only P25. This was good. Of course, you cant go wrong with talong and bagoong.
And my mom's food.  Did I say it was filling?
Anyway, I don't think I will eat again at Bentot Tapsilog, but I wouldn't mind passing by again to check out their interior display!

Life Lessons

"Below are 6 VERY FUNNY and true life lessons to be learned that I've read LANG from the internet. ENJOY READING...

Lesson 1: Naked Wife
A man is getting into the shower just as his wife is finishing up her shower when the doorbell rings. The wife quickly wraps herself in a towel and runs downstairs. When she opens the door, there stands Bob, the next door neighbor. Before she says a word, Bob says, "I'll give you $800 to drop that towel." After thinking for a moment, the woman drops her towel and stands naked in front of Bob.
After a few seconds, Bob hands her $800 dollars and leaves. The woman wraps back up in the towel and goes back upstairs. When she gets to the bathroom, her husband asks,...
"Who was that?" "It was Bob the next door neighbor," she replies. "Great!" the husband says, "Did he say anything about the $800 he owes me?"
MORAL OF THE STORY:  If you share critical information pertaining to credit and risk with your shareholders in time, you may be in a position to prevent avoidable exposure.

Lesson 2
A sales rep, an administration clerk, and the manager are walking to lunch when they find an antique oil lamp. They rub it and a Genie comes out. The Genie says, "I'll give each of you just one wish" "Me first! Me first!" says the admin. clerk. "I want to be in the Bahamas, driving a speedboat, without a care in the world." Poof! She's gone. "Me next! Me next!" says the sales rep. "I want to be in Hawaii, relaxing on the beach with my personal masseuse, an endless supply of Pina Coladas and the love of my life." Poof! He's gone. "OK, you're up," the Genie says to the manager. The manager says, "I want those two back in the office after lunch."
MORAL OF THE STORY: Always let your boss have the first say.

Lesson 3
A priest offered a lift to a Nun. She got in and crossed her legs, forcing her gown to reveal a leg. The priest nearly had an accident. After controlling the car, he stealthily slid his hand up her leg. The nun said,"Father, remember Psalm 129?" The priest removed his hand. But,changing gears, he let his hand slide up her leg again. The nun once again said, "Father, remember Psalm 129?" The priest apologized "Sorry sister but the flesh is weak." Arriving at the convent, the nun went on her way. On his arrival at the church, the priest rushed to look up Psalm 129. It said, "Go forth and seek, further up, you will find glory."
MORAL OF THE STORY:  If you are not well informed in your job, you might miss a great opportunity.

Lesson 4
A crow was sitting on a tree, doing nothing all day. A rabbit asked him,"Can I also sit like you and do nothing all day long?" The crow answered: "Sure, why not." So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the crow, and rested.
A fox jumped on the rabbit and ate it.
MORAL OF THE STORY:  To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting very high up.

Lesson 5: Power of Charisma
A turkey was chatting with a bull "I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree," sighed the turkey, but I haven't got the energy." "Well, why don't you nibble on my droppings?" replied the bull. "They're packed with nutrients." The turkey pecked at a lump of dung and found that it gave him enough strength to reach the lowest branch of the tree. The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch. Finally after a fourth night, there he was proudly perched at the top of the tree. Soon he was spotted by a farmer, who shot the turkey out of the tree.
MORAL OF THE STORY: Bullshit might get you to the top, but it wont keep you there.

Lesson 6
A little bird was flying south for the winter. It was so cold the bird froze and fell to the ground into a large field. While he was lying there, a cow came by and dropped some dung on him. As the frozen bird lay there in the pile of cow dung, he began to realize how warm he was. The dung was actually thawing him out! He lay there all warm and happy, and soon began to sing for joy. A passing cat heard the bird singing and came to investigate. Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung, and promptly dug him out and ate him.
MORAL OF THE STORY:
1. Not everyone who shits on you is your enemy
2. Not everyone who gets you out of shit is your friend
3. And when you're in deep shit, it's best to keep your mouth shut!

~~ I HOPE EVERYONE HAD A BLAST WITH THESE LESSONS ... Learn well ^^ ... SMILE MORE!!

A Burgoo Christmas Dinner

One of the highlights of my December Christmas dinners was the one with my friends at the office.  We bought a voucher for a meal at Burgoo and decided to have dinner and exchange gift after.  The dinner was superb!
There was the ribs platter which was so good conversation stopped!
The shrimp made me so happy because this is my favorite!
Ribs and rice and corn and carrots, to die for!
Above is our table.  We really thought we will not be able to finish it off but we wiped the table clean of food, ha ha!
And the ice cream cake was just perfect to cap off a perfect night with friends!
The ladies I had the fun dinner with, and who gave me my first longchamp bag, ha ha ha! Super fun night to remember!

Round, Sweet and Wonderful!

One of the most known Filipino belief during New Year celebrations is to complete 12 round fruits to grace your table so that you will have 12 prosperous months.  We are not that into the fruit-thing, but we believe in preparing something sweet and wonderful, sprinkled with nips to go with the tradition: our Mango-Graham-Nips cake!
A closer, more yummy look! Cant wait to taste them!
