Litratong Pinoy: Kalye

My First Adsense Payment

After 2 years and 7 months of hosting Google Ads on my blogs, I have reached the payment threshold of USD100 today and I am now expecting to receive my first payout before the end of May! Yes, it took that long because I first started with only two blogs but now I have a total of 5 blogs that I try to maintain and update daily. Good thing I really like writing and updating these blogs is more of a challenge than a chore. I just hope that earning my next payout will not take as long!

O is for Overwhelming, Overcrowded but Overjoyed!

We went for a swim last Black Saturday at Vista Grotto Resort in San Jose del Monte Bulacan. It was a holiday and I was expecting that there will be a lot of people taking the opportunity for family bonding too. But I was not prepared for this sheer number of people! It was Overwhelming and Overcrowded that it was almost Standing Room Only in some parts of the swimming pool!

But nonetheless, the kids were Overjoyed to be in the water!
So, how was your weekend?

Prosperity Plant

I am not sure if this is what its really called but this is what we call this plant. Its a Prosperity Plant given to me by my friend Mayet as a Christmas gift and it has sprouted two new branches already!
I was supposed to bring it home but it looks too good on my office cabinet that it has stayed here since December. When the new branches look ready to be harvested, I will plant a new pot to take home!

La Luz Beach Resort, Laiya Batangas

We went to La Luz Beach Resort way back in November of 2007 and these pictures were taken then. I havent been to La Luz since then but according to some of my friends who went to Laiya, the place still looks as pretty as before!
These are the cabanas where we had our massage and where we just lounge around and read and eat and talk.
We brought our drinks at this place and just chill. The beach is not as pretty as other Batangas beaches but the view is simply breathtaking. This is not a very child-friendly beach but I would recommend it for honeymooners and barkadas.
This area of the beach is protected and fishing is not allowed. Snorkeling is another fun activity that you can do here because this area is rich in corals and various fishes.
The very breathtaking view of Laiya beach.
This beach is perfect for soul searching this Holy Week but I hope that it is not too crowded this time of the year.
Perfect for picture taking! For information on how to go there and for rates, check their La Luz website.

Watery Wednesday: Panglao Island, Bohol

Here are just some pictures from the beautiful Panglao Island Nature Resort in Bohol. The resort is very beautiful, although the beach is not as great as Boracay or Palawan.

And I will be back here in June! Yey!

Ruby Tuesday: More Wedding!

Now that I started the week with wedding and wedding decorations with my MYM entry yesterday, here again is another centerpiece during the wedding of my boss Mickey two years ago. The wedding took place at the Chapel of Transfiguration, Caleruega and the reception was at Ville Sommet in Tagaytay. These were the table centerpieces and they were so beautiful!

It was another beautiful, heartwarming and fun union that I have witnessed. The couple danced during their wedding and there was a firework display after. It was truly a dream wedding and I was so thankful to be part of it!

Mellow Yellow Monday: Wedding!

My cousin Christian married his long time girlfriend Jane last April 9 at the Immaculate Conception Parish in Batangas. Christian is also my kinakapatid, his mother being my only Ninang and so we had to be there to witness their wedding. It was also a great time to see family and relatives again whom I have not seen in a long time! Below is the table for the newlyweds, adorned with flowers and blue lace. The yellow flowers makes the decorations look alive!
And here is one of the table centerpieces. The flowers look too good to eat too!
I have not yet married in church and I would love to have a church wedding. But as of the moment, we have so many expenses with the kids schooling and the house and the utilities and a lot more that having a church wedding would be too impractical. I think I will get married in church when we celebrate our 25th anniversary, which is 11 years from now. By then, my kids will be in college and we may have already saved enough money for a wedding. Or if we win the lotto, then it will be earlier!

Palm Sunday

Today is Palm Sunday and Catholic celebrate the entry of Jesus, riding a donkey and with people waving palm branches to him. It is officially the start of Holy Week, and of Jesus wholeheartedly walking to his death to save all of us. We bought one Palaspas and we placed them above the door of our home.
At the start of the mass, people wave the palm branches and the priest bless them with Holy Water.
Our church is also busy with preparations for the Black Saturday and Easter Sunday Preparations.

I cant wait to see the mass and celebrations this Holy Week.

Great Deals!

I feel so happy because I subscribed to several direct email marketing for several companies like Essogo and Deal Grocer! I was able to get such good value for money on some purchases for beauty treatments and vacation packages! Too bad that we were not able to decide right away on that Bellaroca deal but I am sure that there will be better ones in the future. I find these discounted deals so amazing because you get to plan vacations and save a lot too! You also get to enjoy services that you would otherwise not avail because of the prices. But facial treatments and massage are such great deals and good buys at half the price! Now, all my friends have subsribed on these companies too and I get to enjoy freebies when they purchase too! I really think that this is such a great marketing idea and you can most of the time make people buy things that they would have never thought of buying before. This is great for other companies to make their products and services known too. And this is best for me because I can enjoy a lot of savings! Now, I only have to learn to practice some self control, ha ha!

This is one of the flowers that I like most because they bring back happy childhood memories. Whenever I see one, I am reminded of how as a child we would pound the flowers into a pulp to make bubbles! Back then, I didnt appreciate how beautiful they were, but how they were so good for making bubbles!

And looking at them now, I find this flower so much a part of my childhood that I always take a picture whenever I see one. If only I can grow them in my backyard!

Mellow Yellow Monday: Meet My Father

This is the yellowish picture of my father. It is in my grandmother's house in Batangas and since we were there last weekend, I took a photo of his framed photo. He was a sergeant at the Philippine Army when he was still alive. But he went AWOL for some years before he died. I was only in high school then, living in Pasig with my mother and he was in Batangas with my sister.
This is the only picture I have of my dad and I feel suddenly so lonely that he didn't get a chance to meet my husband and kids. But I am sure to tell my kid's stories about my father so that they will know him as a person, and not just a man in a yellowish picture.

Things To Do this Holiday Weekend

For lack of things to post, here are some of the things we will do this holiday weekend:
1. Go to Batangas and attend a wedding. It will be the first wedding of a relative that I will attend with my family and it should be fun!
2. Meet relatives that I have not seen for a long, long time!
3. Eat suman with latik! Its a family favorite.
4. Take home work and follow up quotations and suppliers for carpet installation.
5. Look for old pictures of my father from my grandmother's memory chest.
6. Take pictures of my father's pictures hanging in the old house.
7. Climb trees once more, or at least teach my children how to climb mango trees.
8. Eat Indian mangoes under the trees while reminiscing childhood with my cousins.
9. Drink Kapeng Barako.
10. Go to the beach in Calatagan!

I am actually excited because we were able to rent a van so cheaply and we are all going away on a road trip! Initially, we will just ride a bus going to Batangas and will just borrow a van when we get there. But this is more convenient and this is going to be more fun! Woohooo!

Watery Wednesday: Munting Buhangin, Nasugbu

The beautiful beach of Munting Buhangin in Nasugbu, Batangas, taken last May 2010 when my husband and his officemates had their annual outing.
I took it a little after sunrise and the place was still quiet and peaceful. By afternoon, the place was packed and there were people from all walks of life in this beautiful beach!

April 9 is a Holiday

April 9, Saturday is Araw ng Kagitingan and it is a holiday. I dont think that it will not be moved to Monday, April 11. Please see below Proclamation No. 84.
I don't understand also why it wont be moved because it says in the proclamation that holidays will be moved to a Monday unless its religious in nature but anyway, it doesn't matter to me because I don't have work on Saturdays.

Let's just enjoy the extra holiday!
